Courses Developed for Math Preparation

It is well known that many college applicants are woefully weak in math and unprepared for the demands of courses in science, engineering, and other disciplines.

Based on IDL's pioneering adaptive blended online learning courses in Mathematics, there are  simple, effective solutions.  Because IDL's courses adapt to the personal learning needs of individual students, they are ideally suited to correct the individual failings of each student. These courses can be quickly made available at short notice, with little or no upfront cost to your college. They are also a useful low-cost introduction to the power of IDL's learning technology. These online courses (below) can be implemented whether or not your courses that follow are online or in-class face to face.

IDL, in conjunction with McGraw-Hill Higher Education, has developed four high quality online courses in Mathematics. These are  General Mathematics; Algebra I; Algebra II; and  Intermediate Algebra. All of these courses are available today. The specialty courses listed above and further described below are based on these four courses.

A feature common to each of the courses is IDL's special pre-testing assessment. This enables a student to quickly take a series of diagnostic quizzes, which evaluate that student's preparedness. If a student fails a particular quiz he or he is automatically directed to the underlying course concept for remediation. The professor can design the quiz and set the passing grade for each key concept. As a result the professor can determine which students are qualified, those who needed extra work, but are now qualified, and those who need further help. To that end, IDL provides the professor with a Student Profile Report for each student showing their progress and capability.

Math-Prep Science, Math-Prep Engineering, and Math Prep Computer Science are variations of the four mathematics courses but tailored (by our academic consultants) to meet the specific requirements and preparation for the courses or programs to follow.

Math Prep High School is designed to overcome and correct deficiencies in the mathematical preparedness of students for college. This course is designed in conjunction with, and under the supervision of, our partners in High School education.

Math Prep Custom allows each college and professor to tailor the Math Prep Course to meet specific needs. Such a custom course would typically combine several available modules from the IDL library. If the IDL library is used then the cost of assembling a custom course is modest.

Cost and Pricing IDL's pricing philosophy is to minimize upfront costs for the college. Pricing for Math Prep Custom will be quoted on the work to be done. Prices are based on the number of students enrolled.
